I’ve been away from the family a few different times, but it has always been within the States, and within a two hour time difference. (Austin TX, Colorado, San Francisco, Seattle)

Here I am in Tel Aviv, about to lift my head from the pillow to start my day, while my beauties are putting their heads down on theirs as an end to their day back in Nyack, NY, like bookends on the night.

Even stranger is the fact that I am here at all. This is Dana’s place of birth, her first home on this Earth. A random series of events and consequences have led us both down winding paths that have intertwined along the way, braiding the stories of our ancestry into a single stream.

For our girls, and everyone they magnetize into their lives, our stories are one, a single story leading up to the beginnings of their individual life journeys, and all of the stories that are yet to unfold. And it will go on and on, like it has done since the beginning.

I am training my little guppies to love and respect the water. Dana has been focused on teaching them to swim, and I will focus on sharing my love for the river, for sailing and all of the things that come along with it — practical life skills like tying knots, understanding and harnessing the power of mother nature and most importantly developing confidence. I can’t wait to show them the ropes.
